“Tân phong nữ sĩ ”, là bộ phim dựa trên tiểu thuyết cùng tên của nhà văn Hồ Biểu Chánh. Phim lấy bối cảnh Việt Nam trong giai đoạn nửa phong kiến nửa thực dân, khi nữ quyền vẫn còn bị chà đạp.
"Tân phong nữ sĩ" kể về cuộc đời của Thanh Tân, con ông bà Đại Đạo, là điền chủ, gia đình nề nếp. Thanh Tân là cô gái tân học, có lối suy nghĩ phóng khoáng. Chính vì thế, cô bị vị hôn phu là dr.̀ Vĩnh Xuân từ hôn. Từ đó, cô Thanh Tân nguyện sống độc thân, quyết giành trọn tâm sức giúp đỡ phụ nữ nghèo. Cô vay tiền mở tờ báo Tân Phụ Nữ, lấy bút danh Tân phong nữ sĩ và thực hiện những công việc phục vụ công đồng như: thành lập nhà bảo sanh, trường nữ học.
